One of the most profoundly human things anyone can do is discover something deeply authentic about themselves. Artists often try to within their work yet just as often fail. In these work, I eschewed recognizable image for strokes and form. These combine to build up in a way that speaks directly to who I am on the inside. Through precise approach and without prejudice or advanced editing, what develops in these works are marks that are as authentic to me as my eyes. This search has been elusive and challenging, I would say even painful. But these works are a genuine expression of aspects of who I really am sans persona.
